    Erica diaphana leaves

    Erica diaphana leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The needle-like leaves of Erica diaphana ascend and spread upon the upper stems in whorls of three, not very densely spaced. The leaves are smooth and thickly textured to fleshy. Their margins are rolled under and may show a narrow gap between the margins on the lower leaf surface, or not. Leaves become about 5 mm long, varying in colour from bright or dull green to yellow green (Manning and Helme, 2024; Euston-Brown and Kruger, 2023; Baker and Oliver, 1967; iNaturalist; Wikipedia; www.plantzafrica.com).
