    Paranomus reflexus upper leaves

    Paranomus reflexus upper leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The wide upper leaves of Paranomus reflexus spiral up the stem. They have long and flat, strap-like petioles. These leaf-stalks ascend closely to the stems before bending down at the necks of the concave, leathery blades, allowing the leaves to spread or ascend slightly.

The leaves seen here taper to pointed red tips, their entire to slightly ragged margins cream to yellowish in colour. Pale veins can be seen on some upper leaf surfaces in the photo, fanning from the base straight to the margin without visibly reaching that far (Matthews and Carter, 1993; Eliovson, 1983).
