The flowers of Acmadenia alternifolia are five-petalled. Flower colour varies between deep pink and nearly white. The flowers grow in clusters among leafy bracts at stem tips. The calyx lobes are hairy.

The generic name, Acmadenia, is derived from the Greek words acme (highest point) and aden (a gland), referring to the glands found on the anthers of these plants.

The flowering happens early in winter (iSpot; Andrew, 2012; JSTOR).
