Drimia virens shining in the sun

When sunlight penetrates the corolla of a Drimia virens flower as seen here, translucence and shine of the lateral regions of the tepals are notable, enhanced by glistening surface cells. The central tepal areas, longitudinal bands from base to tip, are opaque from being thicker and cream coloured.

Tepal margins are entire, but variably shaped with more or less pointed tips. The inner tepals are broader than the outer ones (www.pacificbulbsociety.org; iSpot).
