    Struthiola ciliata leaves

    Struthiola ciliata leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The leaves of Struthiola ciliata visible here show their fringed margins resembling eyelashes. This brought the plant the specific name of ciliata.

On this plant the wand-like branches have their leaves overlapping and lying flat, touching the stems. The leaves are dark green, opposite and lanceolate with hairy margins. The open flowers growing in lax spikes are positioned a little below the branch tips (Manning, 2007; iSpot; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984).
