    Lachenalia rosea leaf blotches

    Lachenalia rosea leaf blotches
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The single strap-shaped leaf of Lachenalia rosea is usually spotted, the pale maroon markings sparsely scattered along the upper leaf surface as shown in the photo. There is a hint of longitudinal lining along the leaf surface that is in this case fairly dark green in colour.

This plant was found flowering on a rocky hill in the Caledon Wildflower Garden on a rainy morning in November (Eliovson, 1984; Bean and Johns, 2005).
