    Aristea capitata flowers after rain

    Aristea capitata flowers after rain
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

These Aristea capitata flowers were seen on a rainy day near Caledon in November. They show distinct straight veining along their tepals.

The busy affair of many flowers coming and going in quick succession during the blooming season is in evidence. Quite a few flowers are caught open by the camera.

Western Cape fynbos has a wealth of tall-growing Aristea species, not all easily distinguished from each other (Manning, 2007; iNaturalist; iSpot).
