    Polygala bracteolata buds

    Polygala bracteolata buds
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The buds of Polygala bracteolata are pendulous once their stalks reach full length. The stem tip raceme has its flowers well spaced and alternating in the photo.

Two small leaf-like oval bracts flank the flower pedicel on the stem. The outer sepal surfaces are pale, covered in veins spreading and branching to the margins (Bean and Johns, 2005; iSpot).
