    Helichrysum felinum leaves

    Helichrysum felinum leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The leaves of Helichrysum felinum in picture are nearly oblong, just slightly tapering and more markedly so near their down-curved tips. The leaves are stalkless, scattered singly around the cylindrical stems. Leaves sag below the horizontal, tending to curve downwards more as they age.

The rough, dark green upper leaf surfaces show their midribs and sometimes parallel longitudinal indentation lines. The leaf margins are rolled under, the lower leaf surfaces white with woolly hairs, as are the whitish stems that may have a slight brownish hue added (Moriarty, 1997; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; iSpot).
