    Polygala asbestina flower
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The feathery pale blue flowers of Polygala asbestina are often hidden among the leaves. They become 5 mm in diameter, growing in short racemes. The keel petal is conspicuously crested, the lateral ones oblong. Flowering occurs mostly in summer after rain (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; iSpot).
