    Arctotis incisa flowerhead in spring

    Arctotis incisa flowerhead in spring
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The flowerhead of Arctotis incisa is borne solitary on a long hairy stalk. The ray florets may be white, deep yellow or orange around its dark centre that acquires a little yellow as disc florets open. The outer bracts of the involucre have long woolly tips. The flowers and other plant parts exude a pungent scent. Flowering time comes late in winter to midspring (Manning, 2007).
