    Oxalis rubricallosa, the plant

    Oxalis rubricallosa, the plant
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The leaves of Oxalis rubricallosa grow on long petioles. They are trifoliolate, divided into three heart-shaped leaflets, joining the petiole with no petiolules. The two lobes of each leaflet have regularly rounded tips and taper to the base in a wedge-shape.

The plant appears big and lush for desert conditions, although it grows in a shady spot. The photo was taken in April, however, at the end of a long, hot summer season. Maybe the winter rains came early (iSpot).
