    Aspalathus aspalathoides flowers

    Aspalathus aspalathoides flowers
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The flowers of Aspalathus aspalathoides are bright yellow, growing at stem tips in dense heads. The peaflower shape is shared with plants of the Fabaceae family, therefore with all Aspalathus species.

The standard petal may have some red colouring, while the keel petal is hairy, as is the calyx on its tapering green lobes.

Flowering occurs from midspring to midsummer (Manning, 2007; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984).
