Dyschoriste fischeri flowering at Burgersfort

The flowers of Dyschoriste fischeri grow in sessile axillary clusters, i.e. they lack stalks and appear above the upper leaves next to the stem. 

Each flower has a long and thin corolla tube that ends in two spreading lips. The upper two-lobed lip is narrower, the lower one wider with three lobes. There are darker blue lines on the central lobe. The dark markings reach the throat of the corolla, irrespective of flower colour. Flower colour is highly variable, ranging from white, cream or yellow to turquoise, light blue or mauve.

Two of the four stamens protrude beyond the corolla mouth. The blooming happens throughout summer (www.zimbabweflora.co.zw).
