Delosperma lavisiae flowering with eye-catching brightness among Drakensberg rocks is a welcome highlight in the wide expanses of grassland.

This mesemb is a mat-forming leaf succulent living well among grasses, here also among shrubs and precariously balanced rocks. The Drakensberg sheepfig spreads its purple-pink petals in spring and summer (Smith, et al, 2017; Smith, et al, 1998; iNaturalist).
