Sandersonia aurantiaca flowers

The flowers of Sandersonia aurantiaca nod solitary on long pedicels that emerge next to upper leaves.

The corollas in shades of orange are tubular to urn-shaped or lantern-like, about 2,5 cm long. There are six short spurs at the base of a perianth or corolla. The short stamens are included in the corolla. The three-locular ovary is superior, its three styles free. Flowering happens from late spring to after midsummer.

The capsule is ovoid, inside the perianth. The seeds are about globose or spherical, hard and brown (Manning, 2009; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; https://www.pacificbulbsociety.org; https://pza.sanbi.org).
