    Texture dominates structure in this photo of part of a Pterygodium dracomontanum flower.

    Both the tip of the brown median sepal and part of a lateral petal on the right of the flower, the left in picture, display numerous, tiny, dome-shaped surface protrusions. Some protrusions show dull shine with shades of brown on the sepal, green on the petal.

    Both suggest rows in the protrusion arrangement, not sustained under closer scrutiny. A bit like reptilian skin conveying message from a poorly understood living world of exceedingly far in the past.
