Hebenstretia dura flower spike

A Hebenstretia dura flower spike becomes from 3 cm to 8 cm long. The flowers angle up around the stem, the open ones much longer than the green sepal-covered buds at the top. The flowers are sessile, i.e. without pedicels, making the inflorescence a spike. The plants are sometimes hairy (Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; https://www.worldfloraonline.org).
