Mimetes cucullatus florets on their way out
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: MC Botha

This Mimetes cucullatus flowering stem-tip is no longer in its prime. The leaves are yellowed and marked by wear and tear. The best part of the presentation is the wavy tresses of silvery haired perianth embellishments.

Even the resolute bunches of red styles ending in by now darkened tips are not what they used to be, but holding firm (Manning, 2007; iNaturalist).
