    Arctotis acaulis orange and shine

    Arctotis acaulis orange and shine
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Uri Mitrani

Sometimes called the flat African daisy, the flowerheads of Arctotis acaulis may present bright orange ray florets angling up and out in a ring, or a somewhat double ring around a dark disk.

The fertile disk florets are tiny. They may show orange parts for a while or be submerged in a shiny black or brown mass, to produce a bright colour at another time (Manning, 2007; iNaturalist).
