Streptocarpus cyaneus subsp. cyaneus in its Mpumalanga habitat

Streptocarpus cyaneus subsp. cyaneus in its Mpumalanga habitat
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

Often found ensconced among mossy rocks in habitat, Streptocarpus cyaneus subsp. cyaneus does well in moist, though well-drained places. The plants sometimes grow on tree trunks, presumably dead ones in the forest floor detritus, otherwise a category of dendrophytic plants could be mooted.

Shade or dappled sunlight is about right and like Goldilocks’s porridge, it isn’t too hot or cold here (Manning, 2009; Onderstall, 1984; Germishuizen and Fabian, 1982; Letty, 1962; http://pza.sanbi.org).
