Pachypodium namaquanum more branches than usual

Pachypodium namaquanum more branches than usual
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

Pachypodium namaquanum is occasionally branched, rarely branching much. All the branches are erect, close to each other but sufficiently far apart for the spines not to harm neighbouring branches.

The deciduous leaves occur at the stem-tips, meaning they are retained only for a while (Mannheimer and Curtis, (Ed.), 2009; Coates Palgrave, 2002).
