    Lachenalia buchubergensis

    Lachenalia buchubergensis
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

Lachenalia buchubergensis is a geophyte adapted to life in semi-desert conditions. Although probably not grazed by stock and game, it is trampled by the too large goat population of the numerous small farmers of the Richtersveld, so far without too serious effects for the plant’s future.

The pale flowers blend in the often-bare sandy terrain and reflects heat, a useful attribute in its habitat (iNaturalist; Wikipedia).
