Euphorbia maleolens leaves on their last legs

Short-lived Euphorbia maleolens leaves that started off blue-green and fleshy are drying here in erect positions before dropping off, leaving white marks on the tubercle tips.

The narrowly linear to lanceolate leaves develop as stem-tip new growth, but don’t last long. The leaves are stalkless and fold in laterally. The leaf margins are entire. Leaf dimensions are about 10 mm long and 2 mm wide (Germishuizen and Fabian, 1982; iNaturalist; JSTOR; http://www.llifle.com).
