    Lessertia argentea leaves

    Lessertia argentea leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The compound leaves of Lessertia argentea grow six to twelve pairs of small leaflets plus a terminal leaflet, the structure known as imparipinnate.

The leaf petiole is long, covered in whitish hairs appressed to the surface. Triangular to acutely pointed stipules are present at the petiole base (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; JSTOR).
