    Clutia ericoides busy stem-tip

    Clutia ericoides busy stem-tip
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The disc and ovary of the Clutia ericoides flower in picture can be discerned in the flower base. The style branches at the top are a translucent dull yellow.

The leaves that exceed the flower present more colour than the flower, but shape also presents clues to hungry insects where to go. Those that frequent a particular species regularly don’t err easily (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
