    Eriocephalus africanus var. paniculatus leaves

    Eriocephalus africanus var. paniculatus leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The stalkless, simple leaves of Eriocephalus africanus var. paniculatus grow alternate, ascending and silver-haired, sometimes in small tufts.

The leaves are narrow and acutely pointed or round-tipped. The tiny blades varying in length are sometimes forked or few-lobed. The leaves are not succulent as those of the other variety of the species, E. africanus var. africanus, or sometimes only weakly so (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; Gledhill, 1981; iNaturalist).
