Searsia glauca dense shrub

This much-branched Searsia glauca bush is thriving among boulders at Kagga Kamma, probably along the far northwestern extreme of the distribution range of the species. The plant is often found near the sea where it contributes to dune stability, but inland it also grows in granitic and clayey soils. The branches spread in a mound-shape to ground level.

These plants are favoured by a mistletoe, Viscum capense in some coastal parts of the Western Cape (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Coates Palgrave, 2002; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; iNaturalist).
