    Cephalophyllum loreum old anthers

    Cephalophyllum loreum old anthers
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

This Cephalophyllum loreum flower seen at Kagga Kamma during September has cream petals, shorter in the inner rows. Some petal tips are minutely forked, a feature not always seen on this plant.

The numerous anthers are spread in a loose cluster, all white and by now narrowly oblong.

The flower is positioned close to the sand in which the large grains represent a range of colours (Smith, et al, 1998; iNaturalist).
