    Wahlenbergia nodosa variously coloured fruits

    Wahlenbergia nodosa variously coloured fruits
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The Wahlenbergia nodosa fruits in picture are in various stages of ripening, borne erectly on longish stalks. The valves of the dehisced capsules in shades of brown, others black, have tips elongated to varying heights above the calyces.

The plant was photographed during May southwest of Oudtshoorn near Volmoed (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
