Mimusops zeyheri grows a dark canopy

Mimusops zeyheri grows a dark canopy
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Johann de Bruin

Mature moepel leaves are dark green and leathery, growing densely and producing deep shade under the spreading crowns. Leaf midribs are creamy and conspicuous near the leaf bases, gradually becoming faint to invisible near the tips.

Leaf size varies from 4 cm to 11 cm in length by 2 cm to 5 cm in width (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Schmidt, et al, 2002; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997; Pooley, 1993; Codd, 1951; iNaturalist).
