    Widdringtonia nodiflora scale-like mature leaves

    Widdringtonia nodiflora scale-like mature leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The adult leaves of Widdringtonia nodiflora are tiny and scale-like, about 2 mm long. They are opposite or nearly so and triangular with acutely pointed tips borne close to the stem.

There may be as much or more green to present to the sun on the upper, young stems as on the leaves (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Leistner, (Ed.) 2000; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997; iNaturalist).
