    Leucadendron laxum stems

    Leucadendron laxum stems
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The stems of Leucadendron laxum bear smooth brown-grey bark. In picture small twigs low down on mature stems are still growing new leaves. Lower stem parts are soon bare, the leaves tending to cluster in new growth near the tips (Bean and Johns, 2005; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; INaturalist).
