    Ficus cordata subsp. cordata stems

    Ficus cordata subsp. cordata stems
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The fairly smooth stems of Ficus cordata subsp. cordata are from pale grey to pale biscuit coloured, sometimes becoming a little browner with age.

The youngest twigs have white hair coverings that later may become yellow before disappearing (Mannheimer and Curtis, (Ed.), 2009; Coates Palgrave, 2002).
