Euryops multifidus flowerheads

The flowerheads of Euryops multifidus grow solitary from leaf axils, less than 4 cm in diameter. The slender peduncles are yellower than the leaves, sometimes powdery and greyish.

Few, yellow ray florets spread around the yellow discs. The female disc florets are funnel-shaped, widening abruptly where they are flexed outwards. The densely populated disc comprises tubular, bisexual florets, the tubes each ending in five lobes.

Flowering happens in winter and early spring. The photo was taken in September (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
