    Euclea tomentosa leaf variety

    Euclea tomentosa leaf variety
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

Euclea tomentosa leaves against the light show translucence on the veins common in Euclea. Lateral veins in picture lose their dominance in favour of secondary, reticulated venation before or about halfway to the margins.

An old leaf may turn yellow, while the lower surfaces of blades may be whitish from hairy coverings. The leaves in picture tell of blade resilience against the elements (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
