    Drosanthemum prostratum flowering stages

    Drosanthemum prostratum flowering stages
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

Different stages of Drosanthemum prostratum flowers are represented at the stem-tip in picture. They range from a green, sepal-covered bud, half-open and open flowers and faded ones where fruiting is underway.

Seen at close quarters, petal shapes vary: Some tips are rounded, others pointed or squarish and flat-tipped. Some blades are straight, others dip near their tips, while most are dully shiny. All widen slightly to their tips and are very slightly angled up (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
