    Bolandia pinnatifida leaf upper part

    Bolandia pinnatifida leaf upper part
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The narrowly lance-shaped Bolandia pinnatifida leaf has big irregularly shaped lower lobes spaced by large incisions. A long, narrow terminal lobe is present, coarsely toothed. Leaf margin toothing is mainly angular but occasional concavely rounded sections are present. The margins are rolled under.

The fleshy blade in picture shows only midrib and a lateral vein down the centre of each substantial lobe, all venation recessed on the upper surface. The leaf-colour is dull mid-green, some purple near the tip visible in picture (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
