    Zygophyllum debile leaves

    Zygophyllum debile leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The opposite, stalked Zygophyllum debile leaflet pairs are narrow and erect, oblong to slightly obovate in shape with pointed tips that sometimes bear mucros. The smooth, fleshy blades are blue-green to grey-green. The margins may curve down slightly and the tips may curve in.

There are tiny bracts at each leaflet bases immediately below the flowers and triangular stipules at the leaf stalk bases. The petiole is about 1 cm long, the leaflets 2 cm long and 1 cm or less wide (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; JSTOR).
