    Cineraria platycarpa green involucres

    Cineraria platycarpa green involucres
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The involucre at the base of a Cineraria platycarpa flowerhead consists of one row of cohering, narrow, green bracts. The involucre is barrel-shaped with a secondary bulge down at the receptacle which is without scales. There are few, tiny bracteoles lower down below the heads (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; JSTOR).
