    Lycium oxycarpum exserted style

    Lycium oxycarpum exserted style
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The Lycium oxycarpum corolla tube is dull green near its base, widening in its middle section and turning whitish and translucent near the lobes. Sparsely branched veins are visible along the tube’s length, turning blue near the tip. There is a hint of hairiness upon the rounded corolla lobe margins.

The short-lobed, green calyx on a longish pedicel is funnel-shaped at its base.

The stamens of this young flower are included, the white anthers barely visible in the mouth. The style ending in a conspicuous stigma knob is, however, far exserted.
