    Acmadenia mundiana leaf midrib appendages

    Acmadenia mundiana leaf midrib appendages
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

Acmadenia mundiana leaf midribs are prominent to keeled on the lower surfaces, like a secondary blade part protruding from the midrib. The leaves are hairy, the margins and particularly this keel part are strongly ciliate or hair-fringed.

The creamy yellow stem is also hairy but not as markedly. The very short leaf petioles are cream-coloured as the stem, unlike the green of the blades (Manning, 2007; http://pza.sanbi.org).
