Zygophyllum morgsana, a life on a hill

Zygophyllum morgsana, a life on a hill
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

This stand-alone Zygophyllum morgsana bush was seen in the Biedouw Valley during September. Well-rounded and flourishing, it flaunts an ample crop of cream samaras ripening in the spring sun.

The light green leaves suggest that life is good at this time. A season of harder times may lie ahead by late summer, bringing about some colour change from thirst. If lifes recurring, often cyclic demands are met, several more big crop seasons could be on the cards for this plant in years to come.
