    Tulbaghia violacea flower

    Tulbaghia violacea flower
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The Tulbaghia violacea flower spreads its oblong to elliptic, pink-mauve tepal lobes around the flower mouth, which is yellow inside with anthers included in the tube.

Three angular, tapering growths protrude from the bases of the inner tepal lobes at the mouth, forming a small crown. This corona-structure around the mouth is common in some form throughout the Tulbaghia genus (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Moriarty, 1997; iNaturalist).
