    Trigonocapnos lichtensteinii known as hekeltjies

    Trigonocapnos lichtensteinii known as hekeltjies
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

Trigonocapnos lichtensteinii is a soft, climbing annual found in a restricted area in the west of the country, including the Biedouw Valley.

The small, pale pink and dark magenta flowers are spurred. The delicate flower racemes have been likened to crocheted lace in their Afrikaans name of hekeltjies.

There is more on this plant in the Climbers Album on this Site (Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
