    Pterygodium pentherianum top of spike

    Pterygodium pentherianum top of spike
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

Pterygodium pentherianum flowers angle out in the inflorescence on their pale creamy green ovaries that become about 1 cm long.

A long, lance-shaped bract with an acutely pointed tip is positioned against each ovary.

The lateral petals and lip are whiter than the soft shades of the rest of the visible flower, the bract, ovary and sepals (Liltved and Johnson, 2012; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
