    Hesperantha bachmannii in numbers

    Hesperantha bachmannii in numbers
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

An abundant stand of spring-flowering Hesperantha bachmannii flowers were seen in the Biedouw Valley in September. Most of them below the generally recorded height for the flowering plant of 30 cm, they were doing well on their shaded slope.

Not only were the unopened flowers on one stem pointing one way, the whole colony were this way inclined, facing the camera (Manning, 2007; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
