    Cyanella hyacinthoides leaves

    Cyanella hyacinthoides leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The leaves of Cyanella hyacinthoides are narrowly lance-shaped, clasping the stem at the base. The blades are often channelled and acutely pointed at the tip when not damaged, the margins sometimes wavy. Blade surfaces are sometimes velvety with soft hairs, hairless on other plants and present at bloomtime.

A solitary, narrow bract is visible on the pedicel halfway up to the flowers (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
