    Albuca longipes fruit capsules

    Albuca longipes fruit capsules
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The green fruit capsules of Albuca longipes are erect on elongated pedicels, the main flower stalk green and sturdy. Some withering tepal remains are still enveloping the oblong, three-sectioned capsules, rounded at both ends.

Although flowering is over, this plant still has some green in the lower parts of the erect, narrow leaves around the stem. The leaves normally die before the flowers open (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; www.pacificbulbsociety.org).
