Psychotria capensis subsp. capensis yellow fruit
Author: Ivan Lätti

This dense cluster of unripe Psychotria capensis subsp. capensis fruit were seen in Kirstenbosch during November. Some of the bigger fruits display longitudinal ridges. The fruit tips are marked, somewhat protruding where the styles were attached to the ovaries.

Appearing more globose than ovoid here, there is much size difference among the fruits in the cluster. The more advanced, the red ones not the biggest. Black still to follow (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Pooley, 1993; iNaturalist).
